چکیده

the purpose of the present study was to estimate the frequency of hpv dna in four groups of oral lesions, including oral squamous cell carcinoma. sixty paraffin-embedded oral tissue samples were examined for the presence of hpv dnas using the pcr technique. these specimens were obtained from patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (oscc), leukoplakia, oral lichen planus (olp), and pyogenic granuloma (pg). consensus primers for l1 region (my09 and my11) and specific primers were used for detection of hpv dna sequences in this study. we detected hpv dna in 60% (9 out of 15) of osccs, 26.7% (4 out of 15) of leukoplakia, 13.3% (2 out of 15) of olps, and 6.7% (1 out of 15) of pgs. statistical analysis showed that the prevalence of hpv in oscc was significantly higher than other groups ( p p

Human papillomavirus DNA detection in sperm using polymerase chain reaction.

OBJECTIVE To detect human papillomavirus (HPV) in semen and find if sperm washing removes HPV DNA. METHODS Amplification by nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to detect viral DNA sequences in semen samples from 85 volunteers. Forty-five men had historical or clinical evidence of genital HPV infection (study group) and 40 were healthy, clinically HPV-negative semen donors. RESUL...

Detection of Leishmania DNA in paraffin embedded specimens of chronic lupoid leishmaniasis using polymerase chain reaction

Background: Chronic lupoid leishmaniasis (CLL) is a chronicform of cutaneous leishmaniasis that is usually resistant to antileishmania agents and leishmania is not seen in the histologicsections. We used polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detectleishmania DNA in CLL specimens.Method: This descriptive cross sectional study was done on20 paraffin embedded specimens of CLL cases referred to theder...

DETECTION AND RESTRICTION ANALYSIS OF C YTOMEGALOVIRUS DNA PERSISTING IN HUMAN ATHEROSCLEROTIC PLAQUES USING POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION

The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) as applied to detection of a foreign DNA in clinical specimens could provide a sensitive instrument for rapid detection of viral DNA persisting in tissues of patients suspected of latent infection. Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) DNA was found in arterial plaques of patients with atherosclerotic lesions using a PCR assay with nested primer oligonucleotides ...

Detection Of Toxoplasma Gondii and Human Cytomegalovirus DNA in Blood from Transplant Recipients Using Multiplex Nested Polymerase Chain Reaction

Evidences from many studies suggested a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) as a valuable method for diagnosing infectious disease in the transplant recipients. We used this method for detection of Toxoplasma, gondii and human cytomegalovirus in blood specimens from patients after bone marrow or kidney transplantation. DNA of both infectious agents were detected using two separate sets of nested pr...

Detection of human papillomavirus DNA sequences in cancer of the urinary bladder by in situ hybridisation and polymerase chain reaction.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the prevalence of "high risk" human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV 16) in transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study included 10 biopsy specimens from male patients of transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder for the detection of HPV DNA sequences. Specimens were collected from the Urology Clinic of the K.G. Medical College...
